About Myself
I am passionate about project management because I find it highly fulfilling to be able to deliver something with a positive tangible impact. I greatly enjoy leading teams by facilitating environments that support openness, collaboration, and knowledge sharing to build strategies and implementation plans. I also love how each project is different, so I am always learning something new.
Current Occupation
I am currently on maternity leave and will be returning to the Modernization Division within the Ministry of the Solicitor General (Ontario Public Service) as a Senior Project Manager in September 2021.
Experience and Education
I have over eight years of experience with the Ontario Public Service, where I have provided leadership, expertise, and support in delivering large, complex, and high-risk priority projects involving multi-ministry teams and diverse stakeholder interests in the justice sector.
Before joining the Ontario Public Service, I held numerous roles ranging from English teacher at a couple of universities in Peru and research assistant, where I conducted research on the medical isotope crisis.
I have a Master’s in Public and International Affairs from York University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria.
I am a Project Management Professional and Professional in Business Analysis. I also have a Prosci Change Management certification.
Why did I join PMI Toronto Chapter
I thought it would provide relevant learning and networking opportunities. It is also a great way to earn PDUs and become involved in sector specific communities.
PMI Member since August 2015
Why did i do the PMP/CAPM certification
In my first job following the completion of my master’s degree, I was put in project management related roles. I wanted to learn more about project management methodology and tools/techniques, so I completed a certificate with the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Toronto. This program promoted the PMP exam and helped me prepare for it. I decided to take the exam because I thought it would help me progress in project management roles (and it did!)
Greatest learning from PMP/CAPM
Project Management is both an art and a science. The PMBOK provides standard terminology and guidelines and it offers flexibility depending on the particular nature and needs of the project.
