About yourself: With eight years experience in corporate business and finance, I am passionate about continuous professional development. I completed my Bachelor of Business Commerce at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and wanted to strengthen my skills specific to business analysis and project management. It was during this time that I realized I wanted my experience and skillset to reflect the entire process of a project lifeline; from conception and development to execution and implementation. By focusing my work ethic on the process, I gained expertise in process engineering and improvement and enterprise change transformation.

Current Occupation: Independent Business & Project Management Consultant within Canada’s Financial Industry. Currently a Senior Business Lead at CIBC.

Experience and EducationI have experience leading, co-leading and supporting project teams on various business and technology initiatives within the Financial Industry. Formerly the Vice-Chair of the PMI Toronto Chapter – Business Analysis Community.

PMI Member sinceJuly, 2015

Why did I join PMI Toronto ChapterI learned about the PMI Toronto Chapter through a mentor that I had met at my previous role and I joined for the opportunity to network, share my expertise and experience with others in the industry and to continue my personal professional development. I became the Vice-Chair of the Business Analysis Community section and was thrilled to meet, mentor and learn from talented individuals from the PMI sector working in various fields.

Why did I do the PMP/CAPM CertificationAs a new grad who had secured a role in business analysis, I knew I wanted to take my education and experience further. With a few years of experience analysing systems, requirements and documenting business processes, I recognized my ability to understand how things worked and how they could potentially be improved. I completed the PMP Certification to develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a professional in Project Management.

Greatest learning from PMP/CAPM: I really enjoyed the scenario questions that were posed on the practice and final exams as I was able to directly apply project management procedures, tools and mechanisms I learned from the PMBOK to real-life situations.

Work Passions: Project Management, Process Engineering, Leadership

Personal Passions: Fitness and Wellness, Sports, Reading, Helping Others

Something interesting about me: I immigrated to Canada with my family when I was a child and started in the school system where my strengths were always mathematics-related. Having my career start in finance and business analysis was the fruition of many years of hard work, but there is always room for improvement and I found a sense of self in dedicating myself to obtaining my PMP Certification and having the opportunity to apply the principles of project management to my current role and future career aspirations.
