PMP Exam is Now Available Online!

PMI Global

We live in unprecedented times, COVID -19 has made organizations and individuals adapt to a new normal in day to day operations across industries. From brick and mortar shops switching to curbside pickup, restaurants changing menu offering to focus on takeaways, and all businesses ramping up their online presence. Organizations - small and large, are being increasingly agile to the ever-changing environment.

Take the PMP exam from the comfort of your home

For those of us from the PM community who have been thinking of using this period to gain certification for the first time, get recertified, or even had an exam scheduled before the COVID pandemic struck, PMI has a solution. PMI has led from the front and has been agile in moving a few of its certification exams online to an Online proctored testing (OLP) system.

As of 17th May 2020,  PMI is offering OLP exam options for PMP (Project management professional), the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certifications. These exams will be conducted on a secure platform and with a live proctor to ensure its quality. In addition, these exams can be taken any day of the week and at any time, reducing the scheduling stress and ensuring a potential candidate can always find a slot to write his/her exam without compromising on any other commitments.

What is on VUE online proctoring?

For those of you wondering what the change in testing to OLP means, PMI has assured that the only difference will be an online check-in process and the presence of a remote proctor who will communicate via webcam. To prepare for the online exam, PMI recommends visiting home.pearsonvue.com/pmi/onvue  to review instructions and to get an overview of the testing experience. Below is a video that explains the OLP process.

Steps for a successful online exam

  • Go to your testing programs page at Pearsonvue.com and log into your account.
  • Navigate to your exam and click ‘Begin Exam’.
  • Download the OnVue software to begin the check-in process.
  • Follow the prompts to take your headshot photo and show your ID.
  • Then take pictures of your surroundings.
  • Once the check-in process is complete your exam will begin.

Prior to starting the exam, the proctor will ask to see your environment to do a work-area scan. During the exam, you will be monitored by a live person from your webcam and microphone. Once you begin testing you will not be permitted to leave the room or move out of the proctor's view.

Tips

  • Choose a private area to take your exam.
  • Remove any notes or pictures from our workspace.
  • Use a reliable device with a webcam.
  • Make sure you have a strong internet connection.
  • Have your ID ready to go.
  • Avoid drinking before the exam as breaks are not allowed during the exam.

In addition, PMI had announced that the new PMP exam (originally intended to be launched on 30th June) will now only be launched on 2nd Jan 2021.
