HEALTHCARE/GTIS EVENT - DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE INTEROPERABILITY SOLUTIONS WITH INFOSCRIBE

Event Topic: Developing Effective Interoperability Solutions with InfoScribe

Joint: Healthcare Branch and GTIS Branch

Synopsis:

Though great strides have been made in developing electronic health record systems across Canada, there is still much work to be done so as to enable the effective sharing of this vital health information between healthcare providers. Informed by a steering committee consisting of a broad range of stakeholders including clinicians, health program leaders, and vendors, Canada Health Infoway has launched the Clinical Interoperability Action Plan to accelerate this connectivity and improve overall care. A cornerstone of the Action Plan is to promote the use of InfoScribe, an online tool that allows teams from across the country to collaborate on the development of effective interoperability solutions that will meet our clinicians’ needs. This online platform not only provides the needed collaborative environment, it also provides the templates for Clinical Requirements and Specifications that will facilitate the gathering of these requirements and their translation to specifications for the developers. In this presentation, we will outline the key functions of this tool and demonstrate how it will be used for projects across the country.

Learning Objectives
Attendees will learn about InfoScribe and its features, and how it might be applied to their own projects. In providing some of the background behind development of InfoScribe, the audience will gain a greater understanding as to the need and value of the clinical requirements approach that the tool fosters in its users. Furthermore, presenting the tool should promote a better understanding as to how these collaborative online platforms can play a role in project management in healthcare and other sectors.
