PMI Toronto Chapter Board of Directors

 

The PMI Toronto Chapter is governed by elected Directors. The term of office for each director is two years.

The annual nomination/election process is part of the chapter’s succession planning and is mandated by our bylaws. Key leadership roles get filled, fairly and responsibly, to allow for healthy turnover, the garnishment of new ideas and for the continuance of the Chapter’s momentum.

Directors make the following commitments:

  • Serve a two-year term (January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2027) 
  • Attend monthly Chapter Board of Directors meetings, typically on the second Tuesday of each month
  • May be responsible for delivery of one or more programs as appointed by the Board and may also manage teams volunteers where appropriate
  • Participate and gain knowledge, with current directors and attend Board meetings once elected, prior to taking office on January 1
  • Contribute to the chapter's annual operations and business planning
  • Assist the board with the governance of the Chapter and take on any special projects as required
  • Schedule and facilitate regular team meetings as required
  • Attend PMI Toronto events as a board representative
  • Some travel to PMI and Region leadership conferences may be required

This is a volunteer position with an approximate time commitment of 20-40 hours per month. Nominees must be aware of this commitment and be able to meet it throughout their term.

Answer the call and position yourself at the forefront of influential change. The call for nominations will open on May 15, 2025 and close on July 31, 2025 at 11:58 PM (ET)

Election

The election will take place at an Annual Members Meeting (AMM) which is expected to take place in early October 2025.

To become a candidate you must:

  1. Fully read and understand the Nomination and Elections Policy, ensure you meet all critiera.
  2. Complete the Candidate Nomination and Self-Evaluation Form.
  3. Complete the Confidentiality Agreement and additional policies.
  4. Attend one of two information sessions:

Chapter members have time to prepare their application for the Board of Directors nomination. Collect supporting member's signatures, review policy, and prepare forms as stated in the requirements above.

Required: Board nominations info sessions

Candidates attend one of two info sessions where they learn more about the Board of Directors role, and the Chapter, and they have a chance to ask any questions before self-nominating for consideration. Attend one of Session 1: June 25, or Session 2: July 15. Registration for these sessions is available through the chapter events calendar and is available to all members.

Candidates connect with Nominations Committee, until August 8 as required.

Short listed candidates may be asked to meet with members of the Nominations Committee, a chance for the committee to learn more about the candidate and check for key criteria. Depending on the number of candidates, this step helps the committee confirm or short list candidates further to recommend a slate to be confirmed by the Board.

August

Candidates are notified once the slate has been finalized. The announcement of the slate is made to the membership.

Date to be confirmed: October 2025

Members attend the AMM and vote during the meeting. Elected candidates must confirm via email that they accept the election within 10 days. An announcement of the results is shared with PMI Toronto members shortly after.

Board Orientation and Annual Planning (Nov Full days - confirmation TBD), Board meetings: November 11 and December 9, 2025

Orientation and planning sessions for the following year occur over two full days in November. Dates TBD - please block off dates of November: 29, 30

January 1, 2026

Elected Board members assume office as of January 1. At the first Board meeting, President, Secretary-Treasurer are elected by the new Board of Directors.

PMI Policy requires Board Directors to live within the Chapter Boundaries, nominees must reside within these postal codes or receive an exception from PMI Global.

PMI and PMI Toronto have various membership classes, are all eligible to run and to vote?

PMI has 3 membership classes: 1. Member, 2. Student, 3 Retiree.

PMI Toronto has two membership classes: 1. Member, 2. Student.

 

Student members can attend and vote, however, they are not elegible to run for election.

 

The Nominations Committee verifies the eligibility of any submissions as part of their process.

Will I receive feedback on my application or interview?

No. Candidates will not receive feedback, please reference the Nominations and Elections Policy.
