Topic: It is Not About the Project 

Overview:
Project management is the heart of the enterprise. For project managers to be successful, they need to go beyond their project. 
The talk will cover three key concepts- 
1-Directions of Influence- Project managers typically take a vertical view of their influence. Thinking about horizontal influence will make the long-term difference. 
2- Relational Capital- Building long-term relationships with key influencers will make a difference. 
3- Strategic Fit- If a project is really “successful” in meeting its objectives, the project may not attract support if the strategic fit is poor.

Bio:
Sandeep Krishnamurthy is the founding Dean of the UW Bothell School of Business. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1996 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (equivalent to an MBA) from XLRI in India. He attended the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Bombay where he obtained his degree in Chemical Engineering in 1988. He joined UW Bothell as an Assistant Professor in 1996 and earned the rank of Professor in August 2009. Under his leadership, the unit’s name changed from “Business Program” to “School of Business”, became independently accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and a signatory to the Principles of Responsible Management (PRME) initiative. 
Dr. Krishnamurthy is deeply involved with the business community. His scholarly work has appeared in journals such as Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Consumer Affairs, Marketing Letters, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes and Research Policy. He has developed and taught several innovative courses related to Marketing and E-Commerce to both MBA and undergraduate students.
