Event type: Healthcare Branch

Presenter:

Title: Supporting Organizational Change in Public Sector Organizations: Principles and Theories

Synopsis:
This presentation will consider the principles and theories on how to support organizational change in public sector organizations.  Specifically we will examine the concepts of organizational culture and identity in supporting organizational change.  The value of learning cultures to build capacity for change will also be considered with discussion of how organizations can both create readiness for change and reduce resistance to change. The value of collaboration when engaging in organizational change will also be discussed.

A retrospective case study will be explored to consider how these principles were used (or not used) for an organizational change initiative undertaken by the CMRTO in the implementation of a MSCRM 2011 product, with discussion about our learnings for future implementations.

Learning Objectives:

This topic will:

Examine the phases and strategies involved in complex organizational change, your possible role as a leader in facilitating change, and the actions likely to be effective in such situations.

Review organizational structures, processes and relationships in theory and practice in order to inform your own perspectives and applications and will challenge you to apply the concepts from the domains of organizational leadership to own practice.

Consider organizational culture and structure, and how these can inform and influence change.
