Presentation 1- "So you want to be your own boss..." by Brad Bettinson
We've all thought about launching our own agency and becoming our own boss. But what does it take? How hard is it to get started? Can you lead a team, keep the client happy, all while managing the books and keeping the doors open? What unexpected challenges would you face, and are you going to be the type of boss you'd actually want to work for? Join Brad on a journey through the trials and tribulations or starting, running, and selling a professional services agency.
Presentation 2 - "Scrum Master vs Project manager - Deconstruction of Scrum" by Preeti Gandhi
The biggest misconception in the in the industry is that the project manager is a similar role to that of a scrum master. Through her talk, Preeti will illustrate the differences and demonstrate how being a scrum master requires not only a change in position but a change in attitude and goals.
Presentation 3 "A Healthy Tension: Account Management and Project Management" by Ari Schaefer
Throughout the last 4 years, my project management counter-part and I have grown to respect each other’s skill sets, to have empathy for each other’s pains and to share in every success and failure alike. The process to get there doesn’t happen overnight, but there are core principles of collaboration, debate and planning that can help speed up the process. In this presentation, learn to work with your Account Management counterpart through Ari's past experiences and create a thoughtful approach.
Bios:
Brad Bettinson is a senior leader specializing in digital marketing and the technology that powers it. His combined 20 years of digital marketing and custom web application development experience helps clients design and implement successful programs powered by enterprise platforms. Brad’s worked on leading brands including Adobe, Bell, Telus, Koodo, BMO, Pitney Bowes, McDonalds, Microsoft and Xbox.
Preeti Gandhi is a Scrum Master at Ecentricarts. She has over 7 years of experience as a Project Manager with a focus on team building. She is passionate about Agile, and works towards creating awareness of the principals of agile in the PM group.
Ari Schaefer is a VP, Group Account Director with Klick. His prior work has included strategy and consulting work in eCommerce, Financial Services, B2B, CPG as well as pharmaceuticals and OTCs. Ari is passionate about using data and consumer research to help understand not just what is happening but why it is happening and to leverage those insights to drive impact for the brands on which he works. Ari has developed cross-channel marketing strategies both for existing sites, services and products as well as for launches of successful new products.
