GOVERNMENT COMMUNITY - STAKEHOLDERS - THE ULTIMATE KEY TO PROJECT SUCCESS

Event Type: Government Community

Event Topic: Stakeholders - The Ultimate Key To Project Success

Synopsis:
For years a successful project was defined as “in time, within budget, and delivering full scope” - but is really the Triple Constraint the ultimate measure of project success? There is a growing trend of executives and project managers that consider that the project success lies more “in the eye of the beholder” and less in simply meeting the targets on triple constraint dimensions.
Stakeholder engagement has become a key element even in international standards. With the introduction of Stakeholder Management Knowledge Area in PMBOK® Guide – 5th Edition PMI acknowledges the importance of project stakeholders in project management. ISO 21500:2012 Guidance on project management also links stakeholders to project success.
With leadership positions in the Canadian participation to ISO21500 and a Core Team member for PMBOK® Guide - 5th Edition, personally overseeing the chapters on human resources, communication and stakeholder management, George Jucan will present his 3Ts (techniques, tools and tips) to achieve project success through efficient stakeholders engagement. His approach is directly aligned with PMBOK Guide 5th Edition, and was proven through many successful projects that won provincial and national awards and/or were profiled in specialty magazines.

Combining traditional instruction with hands-on exercises and simulations, this session provides practical tools and techniques to identify stakeholders, categorize them, plan for and execute on stakeholder engagement, as well as monitor efficiency and optimize your actions to achieve desired results. It also provides a safe environment to practice effective communication and change facilitation, successful negotiation and conflict resolution.

Learning Objectives:
1. Realize that stakeholders are not managed, but engaged!
2. Learn how to use stakeholder engagement to achieve project success
3. Practice tools and techniques to improve your ability to engage project stakeholders
