GTIS BRANCH - DEVOPS: HARNESSING AGILITY TO EMPOWER TEAMS FOR RAPIDLY CHANGING SYSTEMS
Event Type: GTIS Branch Event
Speaker: Charan Atreya
Title: DevOps: Harnessing agility to empower teams for rapidly changing systems - Leveraging DevOps/TechOps principles to enable teams to harness agility in evolving, innovating and operating rapidly-changing resilient systems at scale.
Synopsis:
I am suggesting that there are just two core principles you need to understand well, to guide you through your agile journey, either at a start-up or at scale.
1. The longer work stays inside your system, the more it costs you.
2. Frequent feedback during your work completion life-cycle improves quality and stability of deliverables.
Pause for a moment to reflect on these two statements. The implication of this is that you need to design your processes to ensure work stays inside your system the least amount of time while incorporating frequent feedback from your customers to improve quality. If your processes and organizational structure encourage functional silos and handoffs, your speed of delivery is going to be very slow indeed. And this is where the culture of DevOps comes in.
DevOps in not a new concept. Its core principles and mindset is a result of learnings from Lean at Toyota, and agile implementations over the last decade. The whole idea around DevOps is to develop processes around your organization’s culture to help reduce handoffs, automate processes, reduce errors – which in turn will positively impact your margins.
Learning Objectives:
At this session, you will:

2. Develop an agile mind-set
