Webstream - Joint Event - De-Constructing PMO

Synopsis:

This is a joint event between Construction Community and PMO Group.

This is a panel discussion that provides insights on PMO implementation in infrastructure and construction projects, on what works, what does not work and how practitioners perceive the value of a PMO.

The following themes will be discussed:

  • Demonstrate value of having PMO in construction delivery of capital projects
  • Provide commonality on PMO concepts in the construction industry
  • Highlight complexity and added value that PMO offers – project team or executive perspective?
  • Stir governance, oversight and decision-making from tick-the-box approach to lead-the-action approach
  • Join us for this insightful discussion addressing to PMO or not to PMO with senior client executives and PMO Managers who have delivered successful construction projects in the GTA and discover how this could impact the way you deliver your own projects or execute your business strategies.

Biography:

Diana Nada
Diana Nada is a Senior Advisor in Colliers Project Leaders, Advisory Services, Enterprise Program Management practice. She has over 15 years of project management experience in real estate, mixed-use development and capital projects with local and international asset owner companies and project management consultancies. Her undergraduate degree is in Civil Engineering and she received her PhD in Project Management from the University of Calgary in 2014.

Peter Gregor
As Vice President of Planning and Design, Peter Gregor oversees all phases of Nautical Lands Group’s retirement community Planning and Design processes. He works closely with the Real Estate Manager to acquire sites; the Design Team to design the infrastructure; the Corporate Development Planner to secure all Municipal planning and building permit approvals; then he supports the PMO and it’s Construction Team during tendering and construction; and the Sales and Marketing teams to engage communities and expedite occupancy of the new residences. Peter is a Bachelor of Arch Science and a PMP.

Tracy Kirkwood
Tracy has worked at The Regional Municipality of York for the past 16 years. For the past year, she has been the Supervisor of the Project Management Office under the Capital Delivery & Engineering unit within the Property Services Branch. Before heading up the PMO, she was a Project Manager within the same unit managing new construction and renovation projects. Prior to working at York Region she managed various architectural and civil construction projects within the private sector. Tracy’s educational background is in Architectural Technology, Project, Program & Portfolio Management. She is a Registered Building Technologist (MAATO), PMP and LEED Green Associate.

Derrick Toigo
Derrick leads the Civil Infrastructure group at IO to help manage major transit and highway infrastructure projects on behalf of the Province. These projects include the Regional Express Railway (RER), Eglinton Crosstown project, Highways 427 and 401, as well as the recently completed Union Pearson Express rail link, the Ottawa and Waterloo Light Rail Transit projects, the GO Transit East Rail Maintenance Facility. He currently collaborates in the planning, procurement and Implementation for the provincial government’s Regional Express Rail program, together with Metrolinx, which will transform commuter rail transit in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Derrick is a P.Eng and a PMP

Lucius Maitre
Lucius Maitre is the Manager, Municipal Engineering Design at the Town of Richmond Hill. His experience in project management and PMOs spans both the consulting and public sectors over the last 20 years with a focus on the delivery of civil and environmental infrastructure. He has a MSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto, and an MSc in Economics from Imperial College, UK.
