Title: Constructive Ingredients for Evolving Projects: Out of the Box Project Management Constructive Ingredients for Evolving Projects
Synopsis:
Join the Inaugural Event for the new PMI Toronto Construction Community and hear from our expert speakers on how Project Management Practices have evolved and continue to evolve today in Construction.
Construction projects are challenged in many ways, they have to deal with many external factors such as environment, evolving technology, access to build and the list goes on. Construction projects are evolving, they have multiples uses – hotel, retail & residential – all in one building. Due to the shortage of land, buildings have to provide their own Green space & meet LEED standards. Our projects face complexity -- to stay ahead of the curve we must evolve and look at new ways to manage our projects.
A recent KPMG global survey into Construction Project Management shows that in order to face the challenges today, organizations need to consider:
- Fresh approaches to Talent Mgt
- Integrated PM Information Systems
- Realism vs Optimism
- Sophistication in Contingency
- Building an Extended Team
Our speakers will cover “Out of the Box” ways to manage projects today and address some of the top challenges in Construction Project Management.
On Building an Extended Team ...
Clive Thurston will speak on: Creating a fair, open and transparent system - Contractors and owners reactions to Vendor Performance Programs, Exclusionary Clauses and Social Responsibility. How ethics is now one of the most talked about yet misunderstood issues in construction today.
On Integrated Project Delivery ...
Marcus Gillam will expand on Integrated Project Delivery: Building Our Future - Innovation delivering a new form of collaboration, integrated project delivery has the power to change the entire construction industry. IPD is a delivery model designed to unlock the true power of collaborative planning, lean construction and integration of technologies like BIM.
On Fresh Approaches to Talent Mgt ...
David Barrett will talk about the 5 Communication Tips to build a stronger project team - Communicating well with our project team, stakeholders and others is essential to project success. This session will offer 5 tips that we can all use to help our teams work better throughout our projects.
