In-Person: Guarantee Project Success, One Difficult Conversation at a Time + Networking

Power Skills

Synopsis:

As a past technology project manager and PMI-certified member, Sabrina Sourjah knows that the majority of a project manager's role involves influencing teams and stakeholders and managing conflicting interests. If a project manager masters assertive communication, not only will they excel at project execution, but they will also be equipped to build innovative teams by building trust and creating psychological safety.

Sabrina will start the presentation with a personal example of when she didn't handle a difficult conversation well. Then, she will tie that example into best practices and the assertive communication framework. Next, participants will role play a case study, combining all the learning together. This is where the rubber really meets the road. Finally, the presentation will end with a Q&A session and reflections.

The presentation will be followed by networking with other members where light refreshments will be served.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate the skill of assertive communication and conflict management
  • Influence stakeholders and team members with ease and grace
  • Communicate effectively and assertively and improve influencing skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders
